  • The Trib’s Joe Starkey says the Pirates should extend Andrew Mccutchen before it’s too late.
  • Max Talbot scored in the first period, Jimmy Hayes scored in the second, and Tuukka Rask made 34 saves to lead the Bruins to a 3-0 victory. It was the Penguins’ fifth loss in their past six games and their third shutout loss in 30 games this season

  • Former Pirates minor leaguer Lincoln Holdzkom has died in a car accident, the NZ Herald reports. Holdzkom, 33, played for the Altoona Curve in 2009. He was the older brother of current Pirate John Holdzkom.
  • Entering the season, the Pittsburgh Steelers were deemed to have the toughest schedule of any team in the NFL based on their opponents’ combined winning percentage in 2014. Entering the final stretch, they’ve caught a break when it comes to opposing quarterbacks.
