21-Year-Old Man Accused of Rape in Punxsutawney; Jailed on $150k Bail

crime-newsPUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (EYT) – A 21-year-old man has been accused of rape and related charges stemming from an incident that allegedly occurred on April 26, on South Jefferson Street, in Punxsutawney, Jefferson County.

According to court documents, 21-year-old Zachary Michael Webb has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Rape Forcible Compulsion, Felony 1
  • IDSI (Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse) Forcible Compulsion, Felony 1
  • Indecent Assault Forcible Compulsion, Misdemeanor 1

Webb Allegedly Lures Known Woman to Residence

According to a criminal complaint, around 6:00 p.m. on April 26, 2015, Zachary Michael Webb allegedly lured a known woman and her nine month old son to an apartment on South Jefferson Street under the pretense of “hanging out.”

Woman Pulls Out Knife After Webb Allegedly Assaults Her

The complaint indicates that after Webb allegedly deceived his male acquaintance to leave the apartment, he allegedly began to grope the known woman’s chest.

The complaint states that this action made the known woman very uncomfortable. She allegedly told him to “stop,” and she pulled out an eight inch folding knife.

Webb Allegedly Disarms Woman, Rapes Her

Webb was allegedly able to disarm her and allegedly told her to take off her pants and underwear, the complaint continues.

She allegedly complied out of fear, according to the complaint.

Webb allegedly shoved her onto the bed and took ahold of both of her hands with his left hand and placed them over her head. He then allegedly performed sexual acts on her, the complaint indicates.

When Webb allegedly released her hands, she allegedly took advantage of this and began to scratch the left and right flanks of Webb’s back, the complaint continues.

Webb then allegedly grabbed the victim’s right wrist and flipped her onto her stomach and performed sexual acts on her, the complaint indicates.

Victim Leaves Residence with Son, Male Acquaintance

Webb’s male acquaintance returned; Webb pulled up his blue jeans and went into the other room to speak with him, the complaint states.

The victim quickly got dressed and left the residence with her son and the male acquaintance, according to the complaint.

Webb Arraigned, Jailed; Awaiting Preliminary Hearing

Considering the information provided, Punxsutawney Borough Police Officer Frank P. Wittenburg, Jr. arrested Webb on April 26.

A preliminary arraignment was held at 10:30 a.m. on April 27 in front of Magisterial District Judge Douglas Robert Chambers charging Webb with the offenses previously listed.

Unable to post $150,000.00 monetary bail, Webb was committed to the Jefferson County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on May 11 in front of Judge Chambers.
