3 Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on Route 36

YOUNG TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, around 2:00 p.m. on April 25, a two-vehicle accident occurred on North Main Street (State Route 36), at its intersection with Hillcrest Drive, in Young Township, Jefferson County.

Police say 36-year-old Stephanie L. Bonanno, of New Bethlehem, and 35-year-old Heather D. Gigliotti, of Walston, were involved in the collision.

This crash occurred as Bonanno was traveling south on SR 36 in a 2009 Kia Borrego, and a 2005 GMC Envoy, driven by Gigliotti, was stopped in the southbound lane, waiting to make a left turn onto Hillcrest Drive.

Police say Bonanno was distracted and subsequently failed to yield for the turning vehicle.

Her Kia rear-ended Gigliotti’s GMC in the southbound lane of travel, and both vehicles came to rest on the roadway.

The vehicles were towed from the scene by Southside Service of Punxsutawney.

Both drivers, and a single passenger involved, were self-transported to Punxsutawney Hospital for treatment.

Bonanno was charged with a traffic violation.

Lindsey Fire Department of Punxsutawney assisted at the scene.
