One-Vehicle Crash on Route 36

BARNETT TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – Marienville-based State Police say around 11:10 a.m. on November 30, a one-vehicle accident occurred on State Route 36, east of Iron Bridge Road, in Barnett Township, Jefferson County.

According to police, 38-year-old Andrew P. Hipwell, of DuBois, was traveling southbound on SR 36 and attempted to negotiate a right turn in the roadway and lost control of his 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer.

The vehicle spun in a clockwise direction and traveled off the roadway and struck a road sign. The vehicle then impacted a ditch that was situated adjacent to the roadway, police say.

Hipwell and three passengers, a 10-year-old male and two females, ages 7 and 5, also of DuBois, were using seat belts and were not injured.

The Trailblazer sustained moderate damage and was towed from the scene by McPherson Towing.

Hipwell was charged with a traffic violation.

Jefferson County EMS and Sigel Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
