A.D. “Don” Brown, 95, of Mint Hill, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2016, at Novant Health Medical Center in Matthews.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 30, 2016, at Bratton Funeral Home in York with Rev. Robert S. McKie officiating. The burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York.
The family will receive friends from 10 – 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 30, at Bratton Funeral Home.
Don was a son of the late David Brown and Anna Harvey Brown. He was retired from the United States Postal Service and was a WWII veteran having served in the US Navy. Don was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Punxsutawney, Pa., and was an active member for over 40 years with the Punxsutawney Fire Department having served as chief. Don was the widower of Helen Shirey Brown.
In addition to his wife, Don was preceded in death by his son Robert Brown, four brothers and one sister. He is survived by daughters, Deanna Castle of Roan Mountain, Tenn., Patti Brown of Mint Hill, N.C., two brothers, seven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
