Adam J. Garvin, 20, of Plum Borough was tragically killed by another driver on Saturday, August 28, 2021.
Beloved Son of John Garvin and Renee Muto. Loving Grandson of Lorraine and Tom Garvin, Frank and Debra Muto, and Elaine Muto. Nephew of Marc Muto.
For one so young, Adam lived fully and joyfully as a cherished son, beloved grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend.
Like many his age, he was so happy to get back to campus as a junior at the University of Pittsburgh where he was a Dean’s List student studying aeronautical engineering.
Adam’s dream was to work in the aircraft industry, specifically NASA.
Adam’s passions were many and varied.
A former offensive lineman standout at Plum High School from where he graduated in 2019, he was an avid sports fan of all Pittsburgh sports teams.
At home in the outdoors, Adam took great pleasure in camping, hunting, snowboarding, and sitting around the fire at Salmon Hill with his friends.
He enjoyed playing video games, solving problems, working with his hands to fix things, and traveling with his family to beach vacations and long tours through Italy.
Adam was a talented, self-taught guitarist inspired by music of all kinds.
He loved going to concerts, especially with his mom who encouraged his passion in this area.
He was excited by the return of live music and was among those recently singing along with his favorite band, Green Day.
He had just begun laying down his own tracks on his 7-string LTD guitar.
Adam found great joy working on and riding motorcycles — dirt and street bikes.
This summer he joined his Uncle Marc on a 2000-mile ride down through the Shenandoah Blue Ridge Parkway to the Smoky Mountains in Gatlinburg, TN and home.
Above all, Adam was a man among men.
He honored his family and loved his friends; he readily shared his time, talents, and contagious sense of humor, and he was happiest when those he loved were happy.
Friends and relatives will be received on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 from 2-8 p.m. at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC. 421 Allegheny Ave. Oakmont.
Masks should be worn during visitation and during funeral mass.
Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, September 2, 2021, 10:30 a.m. Holy Family Parish (St. Joseph Catholic Church). EVERYONE MEET AT CHURCH.
Because Adam enjoyed life and people, the family requests memorials to a charity of one’s choice so he can be remembered.
