Agnes McCracken

Agnes McCracken, 91, West Long Avenue, DuBois, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 2015, at her home.

Born July 11, 1924, in Maxwell, she was the daughter of the late George and Anna (Novotny) Ferchak. She was married to Ernest D. McCracken. He preceded her in death Oct. 25, 2005.

She retired as a claims adjuster for Mutual American of Rhode Island Insurance Company.

She was a graduate of the Henry George School of Science.

Agnes was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society, sung in the church choir, and was the historian for the 125th anniversary committee. She was a member of the former Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, was a past volunteer at DRMC Hospice and the Medical Arts Building and the DuBois Historical Society.

She was cared for locally by her niece, Lynda E. Veltri and her husband, Michael, of Reynoldsville.

She was also preceded in death by her twin sister, Francine Ferchak; and five brothers: John, Stephen, Joseph, Carl and George Ferchak Jr.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015, at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home, DuBois. A rosary will be prayed at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday afternoon followed immediately by a scriptural wake service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015, at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Catherine Cemetery.
