ALERT: Freezing Rain Advisory Issued for Jefferson County

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Pa. (EYT) – The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a Freezing Rain Advisory for Jefferson County and surrounding areas.

The following advisory was issued by the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh at 11:15 a.m. on Monday:

1115 AM EST MON DEC 1 2014

FOREST-CLARION-JEFFERSON PA-INDIANA- INCLUDING THE CITIES OF…TIONESTA…CLARION…BROOKVILLE…INDIANA

FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM TUESDAY TO 7 AM EST WEDNESDAY:

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PITTSBURGH HAS ISSUED A FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY…WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM TUESDAY TO 7 AM EST WEDNESDAY.

* ICE ACCUMULATIONS…LESS THAN A TENTH OF AN INCH.
* ICE BEGINNING…AFTER DAYBREAK TUESDAY. IT COULD START OUT AS A MIX OF SNOW AND SLEET.
* PERIOD OF MOST INTENSE ICE…TUESDAY AFTERNOON.
* ICE ENDING…TUESDAY NIGHT.
* IMPACTS…DANGEROUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED DUE TO ICY ROADS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS:

A FREEZING RAIN ADVISORY MEANS THAT FREEZING RAIN WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR ICY SURFACES AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.
