Alice M. Hatten

Alice M. Hatten, age 91, of Brookville, PA passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at her home.

Alice was born on July 26, 1925 in Sigel, PA to the late Ralph H. Sr. and Annette Cook Payne.

Alice married the late Richard “Dick” Hatten on February 9, 1950. She worked at Quinberry Plastics Factory, Erie, PA until they moved to Emerickville, PA in the 1980’s. She and Dick owned the Hatten Farm Supply Company in Emerickville for 18 years.

Along with keeping a home, Alice had a major role in raising their nephew Ralph T. Payne, as if he was her son.

Alice was an avid gardener and loved planting whatever looked beautiful to her at the time. Her garden changing year after year but always looking beautiful.

Shopping for things like clothes, furniture and blankets were a favorite pastime for her.

Alice enjoyed collecting McCoy cookie jars, Franklin Mint plates, Depression glass and Antiques.

She also had a sweet tooth for candy, peanut butter fudge, meltaways, chocolate cake and all kinds of pies. To those who knew her, Alice will be best remembered as a loving and caring woman who wasn’t afraid to speak her mind or stand her ground.

Along with her parents and husband, Alice was predeceased by her brother Ralph H. Payne, Sr. and her sister Sarah Payne.

Alice was the beloved aunt to Ralph T. Payne of Brookville, PA, loving sister of Jean Rucker of Edmond, OK. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, July 8, 2017 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, ltd, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA, 15825.

A funeral service will immediately follow the viewing, beginning at 1:00pm, and officiated by Pastor Bob Goodnough.

Interment will take place at the Lakelawn Memorial Park, Winslow Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.
