Myers served as a Technical Sergeant in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He was stationed in Burma and India during the war.

He was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, a Bronze Star, and a World War II Victory Medal.

Following his military service, Myers married Norma Schrader on September 4, 1947. Wallie and Norma had three children together – two sons and a daughter.

Myers died March 5, 2012, at the Golden Living Center in Shippenvile, Pa. at the age of 91.

He is buried at the Licking Presbyterian Cemetery near Curllsville.
