CURVE, Pa. – The Altoona Curve announced their season-long Throwback Thursday promotion on Monday afternoon, featuring 1999 Curve jerseys and caps to be worn for every Thursday home game in 2016. The Curve’s recently retired mascot and current Chief Fun Officer, Steamer, will also be on hand for most Throwback Thursdays in 2016.
The uniforms feature white jerseys and black caps in the style of the ones worn by the team during their inaugural season in 1999, all with the franchise’s original cardinal and green color scheme and logos.
“What better way to do a Throwback Thursday than to bring back the originals,” said Curve General Manager Rob Egan. “The 1999-style jerseys and caps and the antics of the franchise’s first mascot will help fans harken back to our inaugural year. We think fans will also enjoy all of the bargains they can get on Thursdays from $1 hot dogs to $2 drinks to $5 tickets. This will all begin with Opening Day – Thursday, April 7. We can’t wait.”
The Throwback Thursday theme nights, presented by Rocky 104.9, will also include $1 Juniata Brand Hot Dogs presented by Kunzler and the traditional Thursday $2 drink specials including select 16 oz. drafts and all 22 oz. sodas. Fans with a college ID can also take advantage of $5 Grandstand tickets for all Thursday home games.
Steamer will be on hand to entertain fans for Thursday games in 2016 except for Opening Day when he will be on the road for a hospital visit along with the team’s Throwback Thursday charity partner, Children’s Miracle Network.
The Throwback Thursday jerseys will be auctioned off online and in the ballpark during the final game of the regular season on Thursday, September 1, with all proceeds benefiting CMN.
The first Throwback Thursday of the season will take place on Opening Day as the Curve host the Harrisburg Senators on April 7 at Peoples Natural Gas Field.
