Alvera E. Burns

Alvera E. Burns, 79, of Rt. 322 Brookville, Pa. (Roseville), died on Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Armstrong Co. Memorial Hospital.

Born on January 27, 1934, in Punxsutawney, Pa., she was the daughter of Charles Cameron Burkett and Emma Marcella Himes Burkett.

Alvera was married on April 4, 1953, in Punxsutawney, Pa., to Herbert B. Burns, who survives.

She worked for Sylvania in Brookville, Pa. and as a packer of Owen-Illinios Glass Plant in Brookville, Pa.

She was a member of the Liberty St. Church of God in Clarion, Pa., and was active in church affairs, and she loved her family,

In addition to her husband, Herbert, she is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Willoughby (James) of Zelienople, Pa., and a son, Donald Burns (Lanea) of Knox, Pa.

She is also survived by four sisters, Agnes Burns of Brookville, Pa.; Isabelle Hetrick of Brookville, Pa.; Marion McKendree of Brookville, Pa.; and Elva Crosswaite of Reynoldsville, Pa.; and two brothers, Nelson Burkett of Brookville, Pa.; and Ken Burkett of Findley Lake, NY.; and four grandchildren, Benjamin Willoughby, Rachel Willoughby, Jennifer Burns, and Emily Burns.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Deborah Lynn Burns; and two brothers, Elvin Burkett and Albert Burkett.

Visitation hours are on Friday, July 19, 2013, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at McKinney Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA, and Saturday, July 20, 2013, from 10 AM to 11 AM at the Liberty St. Church of God, Clarion, Pa.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Liberty St. Church of God, Clarion, Pa. with Pastor Bruce Wilson officiating.

Interment will be at Coolspring Cemetery in Oliver Twp., Jefferson Co., Pa.

Memorials can be given to Liberty St. Church of God, 240 Liberty St. Clarion, Pa. 16214, and Armstrong Co. Memorial Hospital Cancer Center, 1 Nolte Dr. Kittanning, Pa. 16201.
