AmeriCorps Spotlight: Stephanie Carrier, DuBois Area Middle School

Stephanie Carrier_JeffersonDUBOIS, Pa. – Stephanie Carrier is serving AmeriCorps at DuBois Area Middle School.

The following article is an interview with Stephanie:

My name is Stephanie Carrier, and I am a first-year AmeriCorps member.

I am currently serving in the DuBois Area Middle School. I chose to serve as an AmeriCorps member as a service to education and my community. Since serving as an AmeriCorps member in the DuBois area, I have been part of a club at DuBois Area Middle School (DAMS) in which we raise awareness for causes to supply our clothing closet, send teddy bears to our troops across seas, and much more.

It has been a great experience watching 6th, 7th, and 8th graders grow academically. My 8th grade students have come a long way since the beginning of the school year and continue to impress me daily.

I know through AmeriCorps I will be looked upon as an asset to any future school district. I have proven so through my dedication and time here at the DAMS.

The AmeriCorps organization has allowed me to interact in a middle school setting I had no prior knowledge of before accepting my position to serve. I am thankful for this opportunity I have been given and I am excited to see where it leads me.
