Andrew John Gresock

Andrew John Gresock, 90, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

He was born in Punxsutawney on May 14, 1931, a son of the late Andrew Harold Gresock and Clara (Cerney) Gresock.

Mr. Gresock was a United States Army Veteran and served during the Korean Conflict.

On July 13, 1957, he married his sweetheart, Ruth Guilfoyle. They enjoyed nearly sixty years of marriage prior to her death in 2017.

He was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #27 Union for sixty-six years.

Andy enjoyed farming and gardening in his free time.

He loved to share and sell his crops each year, particularly his sweet corn.

He also enjoyed going to yard sales and finding old treasures and antiques.

He is survived by five children, Michael Gresock and Sandy of Punxsutawney, Peggy Prutznal and husband Dan of Punxsutawney, Daniel Gresock and wife Rhonda of Zelienople, Jackie Meighen and husband Mark of Greenville, and Jeff Gresock and wife Robin of Haverty Grace, Maryland; fourteen grandchildren, Becky Love and husband Mike, Hannah Gresock, Shane Prutznal and wife Julie, Luke Prutznal, Landon Prutznal and wife Laura, Maggie Prutznal, Brad Gresock and wife Brooke, Brock Gresock, Jenna Tofani and Josh, Allyson and Amy Meighen, Andrew, Alex and Aidan Gresock; four great grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Louise Gigliotti of Warren, Barbara Drury of Michigan and Marion Palmer and husband John of Corsica; one special niece, Kathy “Jo” Painter of Punxsutawney; and a great team of caregivers.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, William Gresock and Frank Gresock; one sister, Annabelle Bobalik.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Saints Cosmas and Damian Catholic Church, celebrated by Monsignor Father Joseph Riccardo.

Military honors will be accorded at Calvary Cemetery following the mass.

Memorial donations may be made in Andy’s memory to the St. Vincent De Paul at SSCD Church.
