Anna Mae Hiles

Hiles AnnaAnna Mae Hiles, 91, Punxsutawney, died Monday, August 10, 2015, at Mulberry Square Elder Care and Rehabilitation Center in Punxsutawney.

She was born October 6, 1923, in Bell Township, Jefferson County, a daughter of the late Sara (Pearce) and Silas A. Weaver.

On July 20, 1945, she married John E. Hiles, who preceded her in death on February 13, 1991.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Punxsutawney.

She worked as a draftsman for Westinghouse Electric during WWII before marrying and raising her family.

A sweet and compassionate woman, she enjoyed her family, church work and activities, gardening, traveling, reading, and playing bridge. She was a guiding light to everyone she met.

She is survived by five children, Linda Bostjanick and husband William of Palm Springs, CA, Candace Dunson and husband Daniel of New Castle, DE, Joyce Deady and husband Mick of Canberra, Austrailia, John E. “Jack” Hiles, Jr. of Lafayette, CA, and Scott Hiles of Campbellsville, KY; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Theodore “Ted” Weaver and wife Kilja of Colorado and David J. Weaver and wife Mary Ellen of Oliveburg; a sister Sara Jean “Sally” Collins and husband Barry of Butler; a sister-in-law Virginia “Ginny” Weaver of Carlisle, PA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Robert “Bob” A. Weaver.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, August 13, 2015, at the funeral home with Reverend Brett Swanson officiating.

A committal service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Union Cemetery in Irwin, Pennsylvania.

Interment will be in Union Cemetery in Irwin, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Hiles, to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation or to the Cancer Charity of the donor’s choice.
