Anna “Marie” Hetrick, 93, of Brookville, passed away Monday, November 23, 2015 at Brookside Assisted Living, Brookville, PA.
She was born a daughter of the late Merle Clinton and Sarah Elizabeth (Harriger) Thomas.
On August 14, 1940, she married Myles Nathan Hetrick, Jr., he preceded her in death on December 23, 1978.
Mrs. Hetrick retired from Hilton Hotel and Gold Eagle Inn.
Marie loved her family immensely, and she especially enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren.
Her favorite pastimes were shopping, bird watching, tending flower beds, and gardening. She will be remembered for her quick sense of humor and light heartedness.
She is survived by her only daughter, Betty Kay and son in-law Bill Crain of Brookville; three grandchildren, Connie (J.R.) Ananea of Brookville, Jeremy (Elizabeth) Knapp of Port St. Joe, FL, and Andrew (Tori) Knapp of Hedgesville, WV; three step grandchildren, Amanda Stein of Brookville, Erica Crain of St. Croix, VI, and Zachary (Audrey) Crain of Wilmington, NC; four great grandchildren, Jory (Brittany) Ananea, Jaren Ananea, Andrew and Annabelle Knapp; three step grandchildren, Luma and Otto Stein, and Braden Griffin; one great great grandson, Anakin Ananea; one brother, Leroy Thomas of Brookville, four sisters, Betty Zitzelberger, Ruby Thomas, and Phoebe Gelnette, all of Brookville, and June Christian of Falls Creek.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Clinton Thomas, Lawrence “Bill” Thomas; four sisters, Helen “Nancy” Knapp, Doris Cochran, Ilene “Jackie” Monks, and Jean Davis.
Friends will be received on Friday, November 27, 2015 at Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Brookville from 2-4 and 6-8.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Lakelawn Memorial Park, Reynoldsville.
Memorial donations may be made in Mrs. Hetrick’s memory to the Zion United Methodist Church, 1778 Route 36, Brookville, PA 15860.
