The charges have been transferred to the Jefferson County Court of Common Pleas.

Reiter is currently free on a $30,000.00 monetary bail.

The charges stem from a DUI crash that occurred in Bell Township in early August.

According to a criminal complaint, around 12:10 p.m. on August 1, Punxsutawney-based State Police were dispatched to a location Close Rossiter Road in Bell Township, Jefferson County, for a report of a motor vehicle that had crashed into a guide rail.

The complaint notes the driver of the vehicle was identified as Troy Edward Reiter.

According to the complaint, at the scene, police noted a strong odor of raw marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Reiter gave his permission to search the vehicle, and police found a black backpack that Reiter said belonged to him. Inside the backpack, police found several bags of suspected marijuana.

Reiter was then placed into custody.

The complaint states standardized field sobriety testing and an evaluation performed by a Drug Recognition Expert following his arrest determined Reiter was under the influence of a controlled substance. He was then taken for a legal blood draw.

According to the complaint, a complete search of the backpack found $619.00 in assorted cash, five sandwich baggies of marijuana, a marijuana blunt, a glass tub containing suspected methamphetamine, suspected “acid” wrapped in foil, suspected marijuana wax, numerous THC cartridges, rolling papers, multiple lighters, multiple small ziplock baggies, multiple glass smoking pipes, and numerous other forms of drug paraphernalia.

The charges were filed against Reiter through Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock’s office on August 1.

He was lodged in the Jefferson County Jail on $30,000.00 monetary bail.

He was released on August 6 on a surety bond posted by a professional bondsman.
