MCCALMONT TWP., Pa. (EYT) – An area man is behind bars following a domestic incident that reportedly turned violent in McCalmont Township on Monday evening.

Court documents indicate the Punxsutawney-based State Police filed criminal charges against 41-year-old Robby Michael Lutz, of Anita.

According to a criminal complaint, around 6:20 p.m. on Monday, October 18, a known victim arrived at the Punxsutawney-based State Police station to report that Robby Michael Lutz had assaulted her earlier that evening.

The incident reportedly occurred between 5:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. after the victim arrived at her residence in McCalmont Township.

According to the complaint, the victim reported she and Lutz got into a verbal altercation and she then tried to leave. She told police Lutz grabbed her from behind and placed a hand around her mouth, then told her she was “not going anywhere.”

The complaint notes police observed a small red scratch on the victim’s face near the left side of her nose.

The victim went on to report that Lutz then threw her to the ground, causing her soreness in her back. She also indicated that during a further scuffle with Lutz, she received a tennis ball-sized bruise on the back of her left upper leg. She indicated she was then able to escape from the back of the apartment while Lutz chased her.

Police also interviewed a witness who was outside of the victim’s apartment at the time of the incident.

According to the complaint, the witness told police he heard Lutz and the victim yelling and heard what seemed like Lutz throwing the victim around “like a rag doll.” The witness also reported she saw Lutz following the victim and said she stepped between them. The witness then drove the victim to the Punxsutawney-based State Police station.

Lutz was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock at 10:10 a.m. on October 19, on the following charges:

– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Harassment – Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

Unable to post $10,000.00 monetary bail, he was lodged in the Jefferson County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 9, with Judge Mizerock presiding.
