WOODWARD TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A Clearfield County man was killed after his motorcycle overturned and struck a vehicle in Woodward Township on Monday morning.

According to Clearfield-based State Police, the crash occurred around 9:51 a.m. on Monday, August 1, along West Hannah Street, in Woodward Township, Clearfield County.

Police say 63-year-old Daniel L. Reader, of Houtzdale, was operating a 2011 Suzuki Burgman while traveling east on West Hannah Street, near Eliza Street. As Reader was traveling east, a 2016 Ford Fusion driven by 74-year-old Cheryl A. Jacobson, of Houtzdale, was stopped in traffic waiting to turn north onto Eliza Street.

As Reader approached Jacobson’s vehicle, he lost control of the bike causing it to overturn before striking the vehicle.

Reader suffered fatal injuries in the crash; he was wearing a DOT approved helmet, police said.

Jacobson was transported to Mount Nittany Hospital by Houtzdale-Ramsey EMS to treat suspected minor injuries. She was wearing a seatbelt.

Reader’s vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.

Jacobson’s vehicle was able to be driven from the scene with minor damage.

Also assisting at the scene were Houtzdale Fire Company, Houtzdale EMS, and the Clearfield County Coroner.
