Area Woman Caught Wearing Stolen Clothing

WINSLOW TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police say a Falls Creek woman was caught wearing clothing stolen during an incident in Winslow Township last month.

Court documents indicate the DuBois-based State Police filed criminal charges against 25-year-old Karlee Rae Shipley.

According to a criminal complaint, around 1:07 p.m. on July 14, DuBois-based State Police received a call from a known victim who reported that items were stolen from a store in Winslow Township, Jefferson County.

Police were then able to obtain information from the store, including the license plate number and description of the vehicle used in the crime, a red Kia Rio, as well as video footage of two females taking items from the store.

According to the complaint, police then found the vehicle from the incident in Reynoldsville Borough and conducted a traffic stop.

Police observed the driver of the vehicle, identified as Karlee Rae Shipley, matched the description of one of the females from the incident but was wearing different clothing, the complaint states.

It was then discovered the clothing Shipley was wearing were items that had been stolen from the victim, according to the complaint.

The complaint notes Shipley was able to change into her original clothing and surrendered the stolen clothing as evidence.

The following charge was filed against Shipley through Magisterial District Judge David B. Inzana’s office on August 11:

– Receiving Stolen Property, Misdemeanor 3

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. on September 28 with Judge Inzana presiding.
