Arlen ” Arnie” Eugene Ryen

Arlen ” Arnie” Eugene Ryen, 60, passed away Friday September 11th, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family after a prolonged battle with cancer.

He was born December 7th, 1954, a son of the late Paul E. Ryen and Marjorie E. (Oberlin) Ryen, and was a life long resident of Rochester Mills, PA.

He was a member of the Rochester Mills Presbyterian Church.

On November 29th, 1980, he married Karen S. (Gaston) Ryen, his beloved wife and best friend, who survives.

Arnie was the owner of Ryen Plastering/Insulation. He was an amazing husband, father and friend to many. He never met a stranger, and had a witty sense of humor. He was an avid hunter and outdoor enthusiast. He loved his family/friends and was a true joy to be around.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Carrie Galanis and husband George of Lancaster, PA, and Joshua Ryen and wife Sara of Rochester Mills, PA; three grandchildren Olivia and Andrew Galanis, and Roman Elensky; one brother Allen Ryen and wife Karen of Rochester Mills; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Patrick Ryen and a sister Margaret “Peggy” Ryen

Friends and family will be received from 1 to 8 p.m., Sunday, September 13th, 2015, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, September 14th, 2015, at the Deeley Funeral Home, with Reverend Art Seaman officiating.

Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Rochester Mills.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Li-Fraumeni Syndrome Association at www.lfsassociation.org or Cumberland Valley Breast Cancer Association at 344 Leedy Way East Chambersburg, PA 17202.
