Arlenna Louise Saffer

Arlenna Louise Saffer, 76, of Punxsutawney, died, Sunday, December 21, 2014 at home.

She was born on August, 12, 1938 in Punxsutawney, PA, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Clara (Couch) Tyger.

She married James Walter Saffer in May 1957 who is a US Navy Veteran and survives her.

She previously worked at Rola Jensen and County Market for over 20 years.

She was a member of the Cloe United Methodist Church and enjoyed reading and was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan – the Pirates, Steelers, and Penguins. She also enjoyed spending time with and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. She dearly loved her grandchildren.

She was an only child and is survived by her husband James Saffer, a son Ronald James Saffer of Punxsutawney and a daughter, Cheryl A. Heilbrun and her husband Carl of Grampian, She is also survived by four grandchildren, Jamie Rena Stonbraker and her husband Nathan of Punxsutawney, Danielle Kay Winkelman of Ashville, NC, Keith J. Winkelman of Annapolis, MD, and Eric D. Winkelman of Grampian. She is also survived by two great grandchildren, Shane N. and J.D. Stonbraker.

Friends will be received from 6 – 9 p.m. Monday, December 22, 2014 at Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

Friends will also be received from noon – 2 p.m. on Tuesday, 23 December at the Cloe United Methodist Church, immediately followed by a funeral service co-officiated by Pastor Mark Blair Dave Stonbraker.
