Born in Ridgway, PA on May 6, 1947 he was the son of the late Arthur and Ida Bell Coder Sr.

He was married to Nancy M. Whelpley and she preceded him in death on December 26, 2008. Retired, Art spent 20 years in the United States Army.

After his discharge from the military, he then spent another 20 years as a truck driver, driving for Brocious Trucking and Fremer Lumber Co. He was Methodist by faith.

Art was a member of the V.F.W. Club where he also was currently serving as a officer. He enjoyed reading, hunting and wood working.

He also loved nature and spending time outdoors.

Art is survived by a daughter Marcie (Jeremy) Cirota of Lewistown, PA; a son Arthur Coder III of Brockport, 3 sisters: Gloria (Richard) Adams of Brockway; Linda Schneider of DuBois; Louise (Richard) Reed of New Paris, PA; 1 brother: Greg (Wendy) Coder also of Brockport and 3 grandchildren: David, Reina and Jacob Cirota.

In addition to his parents and his wife he is also preceded in death by a sister Garnet Fox, a brother Jack Coder, and a half sister Janice Penvose.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday, November 11 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway.

The Funeral Service will be on Thursday, November 12 at 11:00 AM also at the funeral home with Pastor Karen Trask officiating. Burial will follow in the Beechtree Cemetery.

Full Military Honors will be accorded on Thursday morning at the funeral home by Parson-Marnati Post #95 of the American Legion.
