Charlotte O’Connor

Charlotte O’Connor

Charlotte O’Connor, 95, of Country Springs, Sligo, PA, and formerly of Franklin went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 14, 2019. Charlotte was born on November 26, 1923 in New Castle, PA and lived in many places during her childhood. She graduated from Titusville High School in 1942. On December 6, 1944 she took a train to Savannah, Georgia where Dalton O’Connor was stationed in the US Army, and they were married. They spent the next 65 years living together in Franklin on the Pittsburgh Road. Dalton died in April 2009. During those year Charlotte worked at Polk Center, as a teller at the Exchange Bank and then retired from Franklin Area School District after 23 years as the bookkeeper. Charlotte was a loyal member of Christ United Methodist Church and the Friendship Circle Sunday School Class in Franklin. Charlotte is survived by her daughter, Shirley Fagley, and her husband, Richard, of New Bethlehem, PA. Her beloved son, Craig O’Connor, preceded her in death in 2014. Craig’s wife, Lorna O’Connor, survives, and lives in Franklin. Her greatest joy was her three granddaughters, Christie Svolos and her husband, George, of Oil City, Brenda Henry and her husband, Joe, of New Bethlehem, and Barbara Avarello, and her husband, Brian, of Hinckley, Ohio. Also surviving are six great granddaughters, Sydney and Ansley Svolos, Katelyn and Claire Henry, and Kyra and Lauren Avarello. She was preceded in death by her son, Craig, her grandson, Ryan, and her great-grandson, Nicholas. Family and friends are welcome for viewing on Friday, May 17, 2019 at 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Christ United Methodist Church, 1135 Buffalo Street, Franklin. Funeral Services will follow at 12:00 PM with Rev. Sam Wagner, Associate Pastor at Christ United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Franklin Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Huff-Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 312 W. Park Street, Franklin. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the Mission Fund at Christ United Methodist Church, 1135 Buffalo Street, Franklin, PA 16323.
