She was born May 11, 1937, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Harry and Maude (Smith) Whitesell.

On February 23, 1957, she married Gilbert M. Reed in Emerickville, PA, who survives.

Barbara loved the Lord. She was a member of the Grange Church of God where she taught Sunday School and spent many hours volunteering her time.

She worked as a Monitor at Mapleview Elementary School for forty years and was known as Grandma Barb to thousands of students.

She enjoyed cooking and baking, camping, gardening, flowers, and canning. Barb was a faithful fan at the local dirt tracks for the last thirty years rooting for her sons and grandsons.

Barbara and Gilbert celebrated their fiftieth anniversary of running their farm and became like a second mother to many young men who helped out around their farm. She had a servant’s heart and put everyone before her.
