Barry P. Boltz

001-2Barry P. Boltz, 82, of 334 Main St. Rimersburg, died at 2 PM Thursday January 14, 2016 in the ICU of Clarion Hospital.

Born in his parents’ home in Rimersburg on June 3, 1933, he was the son of Claude E. and Maude B. Shick Boltz.

Barry was married June 22, 1957 to Carol Ann Brogan and she survives.

He was a 1951 graduate of Rimersburg High School and worked 30 years as an electrician at Joy Manufacturing Co. in Franklin retiring in 1998 and was member of the I.A.M. Local # 1842 of Franklin.

Barry was a member of the Rimersburg United Methodist Church for the past 68 years and volunteered for the past 10 years with the King’s Kids program with the church. He was recently honored by his fellow fireman for his nearly 64 years of service with the Rimersburg Hose Co. as a continuous active member since the age of 20.

Barry also served as an ambulance driver and board member for the Southern Clarion Co. Vol. Ambulance Service from 1980 to 2009. Throughtout the years he enjoyed attending sporting and musical activities of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

In addition to his loving wife of 58 years Carol, Barry is survived by 3 three daughters; LuAnnn Kilburn and her husband Lowell of Rimersburg, Laurie Boltz and her companion Clinton Kifer of Rimersburg, and Linda Shoemaker and her husband Bret of Bethel Park, 1 son; Michael R. Boltz and his companion Janey ‘Sis’ Montomery of Rimersburg, 9 grandchildren and their significant others; Stephanie and Jason Crissman, Andrea and Jason Shreckengost, Nate and Katie Boltz, Seth and Kim Kilburn, Amanda and Nate Good, Kayla Boltz and John Wilson, Katelyn Shoemaker and Zach Hilton, and Tylar and Cooper Shoemaker, 8 great-grandchildren; Bailey and Carson Crissman, Ava and Keagan Schreckengost, Jaxen Boltz, and Henry, Wayden and Rhett Good, 2 stepgreatgrandchildren; Jalesa and Quinton Crissman, and 2 new greatgrandchildren on the way.

He is also survived a sister; Joan G. Guntrum of Rimersburg. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister; E. Jean Ferguson.

Barry’s family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Saturday January 16, 2016 and from 12 noon- 2 PM and 5-7 PM Sunday January 17, 2016 at the Varner Funeral Home of Rimersburg.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday January 18, 2016 from the Rimersburg United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dennis Fetter, Pastor, officiating.

Interment will follow in the Rimersburg Cemetery. Barry’s family suggests memorials be made to the Rimersburg Hose Co. or the Southern Clarion Co. Ambulance Service both of Rimersburg, PA 16248.
