Baseball: Lyle Lifts Brookville Past DuBois; Punxsy Falls 1-0 to Bradford


BROOKVILLE, Pa. (D9Sports) – Dane Lyle allowed four hits over 5 2/3 innings as Brookville beat DuBois, 4-2, at McKinley Field.

Lyle walked three and struck out two before Seth Dunkle finished out the game for a four-out save. Dunkle walked one and struck out one.

Aaron Park singled in a run in the first inning and scored runs in the third and sixth innings. Lyle drew a bases-loaded walk and Cole Labenne’s sacrifice fly in the third inning put the Raiders up for good at 3-1. Park scored an unearned run in the sixth, racing home from third on a wild pitch.

Garrett Starr singled twice for the Beavers. Eric Schneider singled with one out and scored on a two-out error to get DuBois within 3-2 in the sixth.

Dylan McCluskey, Jeremy Krise and Chandler Ho pitched for the Beavers. McCluskey pitched into the third inning, giving up the first three Raiders runs to take the loss.

BRADFORD 1, PUNXSUTAWNEY 0

BRADFORD, Pa. – Behind Adam Boyer’s two-hit shutout, Bradford topped visiting Punxsutawney, 1-0.

Boyer walked four and hit a batter while also striking out one in seven innings. He needed 101 pitches for the shutout.

Bradford scored the game’s lone run in the fifth when Isaac Gralak opened the inning with a walk, was sacrificed to second by Patrick Caskey. He then went to third on a wild pitch and scored when the throw to third was wild.

Logan Johnston suffered the loss going 4 ⅔ innings allowing one run on two hits and four walks while striking out five in 4 ⅔ innings. Isaac Stouffer pitched 1 ⅓ scoreless allowing a hit while striking out two.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 4, Brockway 3

ST. MARYS, Pa. – A bases-loaded hit by a pitch and a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the sixth helped Elk County Catholic rally past Brockway, 4-3.

With the bases loaded and two outs in the sixth, Tyler Serafini hit Dan Wimer to force home the tying run and then walked Brennen Klawuhn to force home the go-ahead run.

Alec Wehler was 2-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and an RBI for ECC with Wimer going 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Wehler got the win going two innings in relief allowing an unearned run on a hit and two walks and striking out one. Taylor Boland started and went five innings allowing two unearned runs on four hits and four walks while striking out eight.

Zane Puhala had a pair of RBIs for Brockway with Cam Baka going 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Baka took the loss giving up four runs, three earned, on seven hits and five walks while striking out five in 5 ⅔ innings. Serafini walked two and a hit a batter in a ⅓ of an inning.

UNION 12, FOREST AREA 0, 5 INNINGS

TIONESTA, Pa. – Isaac Yoder tossed a two-hit shutout and also drove in four runs to lead visiting Union to a 12-0, five-inning win over Forest Area at West Forest.

Yoder went five innings walking two and striking out six. He was also 2-for-3 with a walk and the four RBIs at the plate.

Clayton Marsh added a 2-for-2 day with two walks, two RBIs and four runs scored for the Golden Knights with Hunter Johnston going 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Zachary Flick drove in three runs as well, Lukas Salvo had a double and Lucas Bowser and Luke Bowser each scored twice.

Dillon DiCorpo and Bobby Dittman had hits for Forest Area.

Chris Pedersen took the loss giving up five runs on five hits and five walks in two innings of work.
