Baseball Recaps: Brookville Scores Four in Ninth to Stun DuBois

BROOKVILLE, Pa. (D9Sports) – Hunter Geer’s bases-loaded single in the bottom of the seventh inning drove home Brady Caylor to cap off a four-run seven and give Brookville a 6-5 walk-off victory over DuBois.

The Raiders, who trailed 4-0 after two innings were down 5-2 going to the seventh but got their first three batters on base while scoring a run to cut the deficit to 5-3.

A Jace Miner double scored Dane Lyle, who started the inning with a single, to score that run, and then Seth Dunkle, who walked after the Lyle single, scored on an Aaron Park groundout to make it 5-4.

Miner then tied the game on a wild pitch, and after a groundout, Caylor and Tanner LaBenne had back-to-back singles to put runners on the corners. DuBois then intentionally walked Chase Palmer to get to Geer who made the Beavers pay.

Miner was 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, a run scored and three RBIs for Brookville while Caylor was 3-for-4 with the run scored. Lyle added a pair of hits.

Eric Schneider was 2-for-4 with an RBI for DuBois, while Chase Husted doubled and scored a run.

Park got the win in relief going five innings allowing one run on three hits and a walk while striking out six.

Chandler Ho, DuBois’ third pitcher, suffered the loss giving up two runs on four hits and a walk in ⅔ of an inning of work. Dayne Bauman started and went five innings allowing two runs on five hits and four walks while striking out two. Garrett Starr worked an inning-plus of relief giving up two runs on two hits and two walks.

CLEARFIELD 4, BALD EAGLE AREA 2

HYDE, Pa. – Cade Walker struck out seven batters while giving up two hits and two runs to help Clearfield defeat visiting Bald Eagle Area, 4-2.

Nick Domico doubled and added a run for the Bison while Walker went 1-for-2 with a run and an RBI. Nathan Barr and Caullin Reed each scored a run.

Gattet Greene and Miles Stover each scored a run for the Eagles.

Noah Williamson took the loss for Bald Eagle Area giving up four hits and four runs while striking out three and walking three.

BROCKWAY 11, REDBANK VALLEY 1, 5 INNINGS

ALCOA, Pa. – Tyler Serafini was 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and five RBIs to help visiting Brockway defeat Redbank Valley, 11-1 in five innings.

Zane Puhala had a pair of hits and scored three runs while Ben Glasl added a pair of runs scored. Dominic Inzana and Santonia Inzana each doubled and Hunter Allenbaugh went 2-for-3 with a run scored for the Rovers.

Redbank Valley got multi-hit efforts from Hunter Buzard, Blaney Brooks and Austin Leasure with each player recording a pair of hits. Leasure scored the lone run.

Serafini earned the win for Brockway striking out three while giving up seven hits and a run.

Bryson Bain took the loss for Redbank Valley.

JOHNSONBURG 8, CURWENSVILLE 0

JOHNSONBURG, Pa. – Gavin Elmquist and Austin Green combine to throw a shutout in Johnsonburg’s 8-0 victory over visiting Curwensville.

Elmquist started the game for the Rams and pitched the first 4 ⅔ innings striking out eight and allowing eight hits. Green finished the game on the mound giving up a hit and striking out four batters.

Green and Paul Gresco each homered to lead the Rams offense. Green went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and Gresco went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored. Cameron Marciniak added a pair of runs while Ethan Wells doubled to go along with a run scored.

Jake Mullins paced the Tide offense going 2-for-2.

Jeremiah Farley, Noah VonGunden and Jake McCracken all saw time on the mound for Curwensville and combined for nine allowed hits, eight runs, seven walks and four strikeouts in the loss.

FRANKLIN 7, CLARION-LIMESTONE 2

STRATTANVILLE, Pa. – Franklin used a five-run third inning on its way to a 7-2 win over Clarion-Limestone.

Tyus Wood went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs to lead the Knights offense. Carson Wible doubled and added a pair of runs while Ian Haynes went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs. Connor Rakow tripled and Austin Rhoads chipped in for a run and an RBI.

Colby Himes paced the Lions going 2-for-3 with a run. Curvin Goheen scored a run and Hayden Callen drove in both runs.

Kolton Banfi struck out eight batters and gave up four hits in the win for Franklin.

Curvin Goheen pitched the first 3 ⅔ innings on the mound for C-L giving up seven hits and six runs while striking out two. Bryson Huwer finished the game in relief and struck out five batters.

NORTH CLARION 17, FOREST AREA 3

TIONESTA, Pa. – Logan Minich and Zyler Hargenrader each had three hits to help visiting North Clarion to a 17-3 win over Forest Area at West Forest.

Logan Minich was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs, while Hargenrader went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored.

Also for the Wolves, Korey Mills was 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI, Trevor Amsler was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Sam Minich was 1-for-3 with an RBI and three runs scored.

Tyler Wolbert got the win giving up three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out four. Jacob Bauer pitched a scoreless inning allowing two hits and striking out two.
