Baseball: Redbank Valley Scores Five in the Seventh to Stun North Clarion


ALCOA, Pa. (D9Sports) – Blaney Brooks single in the bottom of the seventh inning scored Hunter Buzard to cap off a five-run seventh, as Redbank Valley rallied for a 10-9 win over visiting North Clarion.

The Bulldogs trailed 9-5 going to the seventh thanks in large part to an 8-run second inning by North Clarion.

But in the seventh, Ethan Wadding started the scoring with an RBI double with one out. Austin Leasure followed with a run-scoring single to make it 9-7, and Nick Smith’s sac fly made it 9-8. Buzard then singled to center to tie the score before stealing second to set up the winning run.

Brooks led the Bulldogs offense going 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs. Buzard had a pair of hits including a double, a run scored and two RBIs while Leasure singled with a run scored and two RBIs. Ethan Wadding and Logan Wadding each hit a double and each drove in a run with Smith adding a pair of hits, run scored and an RBI.

Korey Mills paced the Wolves with a grand slam in the second inning. Isaac Gilara went 2-for-4 with a home run, double and an RBI while Tyler Wolbert went 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored. Sam Minich had a pair of hits with a run scored and Jacob Bauer singled with an RBI and run scored.

Bryson Bain pitched the last four innings and gave two hits and no runs while striking out three to earn the win for Redbank Valley.

Zyler Hargenrader took the loss for North Clarion giving up three runs on five hits in 2 ⅔ innings of work.

MONITEAU 15, FOREST AREA 0, 3 INNINGS

BUTLER, Pa. – Jared Lominski went 2-for-3 with a triple and four RBIs to help Moniteau defeat Forest Area, 15-0 in three innings.

Lee DeMatteis had a pair of hits including a triple and three RBIs for the Warriors with Hunter Fitzingo going 1-for-2 with a pair of runs scored and two RBIs. Chance Nagy singled, scored twice and drove in a run while Zach Smith and Dean Hershey each scored twice. Tyler McFadden had an RBI and run scored and Gage Neal scored three runs.

Mitchell McWilliams doubled for the lone hit of the game for the Fires.

DeMatteis got the win for Moniteau with five strikeouts and one allowed hit.

Bobby Dittman took the loss for Forest Area.
