Baseball Roundup: Brookville Breaks Out Bats in Win at Punxsutawney


PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (D9Sports) – Tanner LaBenne went 4-for-5 and drove in three runs to help visiting Brookville to a 13-8 victory over Punxsutawney.

Jace Miner went 2-for-4 including a double, triple, two runs scored and two RBIs for the Raiders. Chase Palmer and Cole LaBenne each went 2-for-5 with a run scored while Trenton Gilhousen went 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Dylan Ishman went 1-for-3 with two RBIs to pace the Chucks. Alec Greenblatt and Andrew Britton each singled while Sheldon Young had a pair of runs scored.

Palmer got the win for Brookville striking out one while giving u two unearned runs in 3 ⅔ innings on the mound.

Greenblatt pitched 4 ⅔ innings for Punxsutawney and gave up six runs, three unearned, on nine hits while striking out two.
KANE 12, BROCKWAY 10, 8 INNINGS

BROCKWAY, Pa. – Zachary Straneva and Reese Novosel each scored at top of the eighth inning to break a 10-10 tie to help visiting Kane defeat Brockway, 12-10 in eight innings.

Ty Stahli led the Wolves offense going 4-for-4 including a home run, double, three runs scored and four RBIs. Carson Whiteman went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and a pair of RBIs while Novosel had a pair of hit and two RBIs. Austin Jordan drove in two runs and Andrew Jekielek went 3-for-4 including a double and run scored.

Bryce Grecco had four RBIs and went 2-for-2 with a run scored to pace the Rovers offense. Ben Glasl had a pair of hits and two RBIs while Tyler Serafini went 1-for-2 with three runs scored. Zane Puhala, Matthew Holt and Santino Inzana each had a pair of hits.

Stahli started the game for Kane striking out four while allowing seven runs on five hits in three innings on the mound. Whiteman finished the game with six strikeouts to earn the win.

Garrett McClintick took the loss for Brockway. Serafini pitched the first five innings and struck out five batters.

CLARION-LIMESTONE 12, KARNS CITY 11

STRATTANVILLE, Pa. – Ian Larson scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh on an error by catcher Jake Weckerly to lift Clarion-Limestone over Karns City, 12-11.

Larson went 2-for-5 with a pair of runs scored and two RBIs to lead the Lions offense. Hayden Callen went 2-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored while Colby Himes tripled and drove in two runs. Bryson Huwar and Drew Beichner each had a pair of hits and an RBI.

Tyler Yough went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored to pace the Gremlins. Steve O’Donnell went 3-for-5 including a double, two runs scored and two RBIs while Weckerly had a pair of hits with a run scored. Conner Schaffner went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and two RBIs.

Bryson Huwar started the game and struck out six batters while giving up eight hits and five runs in 5 ⅔ innings for Clarion. Goheen got the save.

Colton Hutchinson took the loss for Karns City. Weckerly started the game and had a strikeout in 3 ⅔ innings while Cole Sherwin had three strikeouts in 2 ⅓ innings.

UNION 17, FOREST AREA 3, 6 INNINGS

TIONESTA, Pa. – Carter Terwint went 3-for-4 with a home run, and Luke Salvo was 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs to lead visiting Union to a 17-3, six-inning win over Forest Area.

Also for the Golden Knights, Luke Bowser went 3-for-4.

Noah Burke paced Forest Area with a double and run scored while Declan McLaughlin went 1-for-1 with two RBIs. Dominic Grubbs and Travis Swartz each had a run scored.
