Baseball Roundup: VonGunden Helps Curwensville to Victory


CURWENSVILLE, Pa. (D9Sports) – Noah VonGunden went 2-for-3 and scored three runs to help Curwensville to an 11-1, 5 inning victory over visiting Harmony.

Jake McCracken went 2-for-3 and scored once while driving in three runs for the Tide. Avery Francisco had a hit, run and three RBIs while Matt Brown chipped in for a pair of RBIs. Cole Bressler went 2-for-2 and added a run.

Isaac Elias scored the lone run for the Owls that was driven in off a David Rorabaugh hit in the third inning.

McCracken earned the victory for the Tide with 11 strikeouts while allowing two hits and one run.

For Harmony, Adam McGavery gave up 10 hits and 11 runs while striking out five in the loss.

PHILIPSBURG-OSCEOLA 2, CLEARFIELD 1

HYDE, Pa. – Trey Shaws run at the top of the seventh broke a 1-1 tie and helped visiting Philipsburg-Osceola defeat Clearfield, 2-1.

Shaw went 2-for-3 with an RBI and the winning score for the Mounties. Ryan Kephart added a pair of hits and Carson Jones went 1-for-2 and scored the first run.

Cade Walker paced the Bison going 2-for-3 with Allan Myers scoring the lone run.

Ryan Whitehead got the win for P-O allowing six hits and one run while striking out six.

Eli Glass started the game for the Bison and struck out six while allowing three hits and a run in four innings. Walker took the loss and gave up three hits and the winning run in the final three innings.
