Bertha Josephine Pence

Scan0001[1]Bertha Josephine Pence, 95, of New Bethlehem, died Thursday, November 12, 2015 at the Clarion Hospital.

Born January 3, 1920 in Cottage Hill, she was the daughter of the late Charles Ralph and Mary Catherine (Shankel) Hepler. She was first married to Robert A. Lamison on May 19, 1949 and he preceded her in death on March 12, 1981. She married Chester D. Pence on July 16, 1983 and he survives.

She worked at Widmans and CharVal Candies in New Bethlehem. She was a Lifetime member of the First Baptist Church in New Bethlehem. She was a member and a Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 230 of New Bethlehem and White Shrine.

Bertha enjoyed traveling, family gatherings, reading and plays.

She is survived by her husband, Chester D. Pence of New Bethlehem, a son, Robert Lamison of New Bethlehem, a daughter Cindy Aaron and her husband Denny of New Bethlehem, a step son, Philip Pence and his wife Beth of New Bethlehem, seven grandchildren, Renee White and Chad Chillcott, Jason Aaron and his wife Abby, Rebecca Lamison and fiance Zachary Rowe, Douglas Lamison, Kari Emerick and her husband Curt, Adam Pence and his wife Norah, Abigail Westover and her husband Thomas and eleven greatgrandchildren. Also surviving, a brother Oscar Hepler of Cleveland, Ohio, and a sister Kathaleen Liggett of Canton Ohio.

In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by, a daughter in law, Sue Lamison, five siblings, Clifton Hepler, Irene Hepler, Eleanor (Hepler) Bowersox, Ruth (Hepler) Campbell, and Allen Hepler.

Friends will be received Saturday, November 14, 2015, from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn and on Sunday, November 15, 2015 from 1 to 2 at the First Baptist Church in New Bethlehem. The funeral service will follow on Sunday at 2:00 pm at the church with Pastor Rocky Hammond and Pastor Ronald Kunselman co-officiating. Interment will be in the Squirrel Hill Cemetery, Porter Township, Clarion County.
