Betty Heberling

Mrs. Betty Heberling, 82, of Punxsutawney passed away suddenly at her home on Thursday, February 23, 2017.

Mrs. Heberling was born on December 25, 1934, a daughter of the late Donald B. and Mary E. (Brocious) Chambers.

Betty married the late Joseph Roy Heberling in July 1955. Joseph was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Korean War. He passed away on April 31, 1994.

Mrs. Heberling retired from CRW Home Center, Inc of Punxsutawney where she worked for a number of years in the Accounting Dept as a Book Keeper.

She was also employed by Andersons and H & R Block.

Betty had a wonderful heart and always gave of her time. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and very active in the United Methodist Women’s Circle volunteering her time helping tend to the needs of the church and the members of UMW.

Particularly noteworthy, Betty was always there to help with funeral dinners and other church events making the “Best Pies” you ever tasted.

Betty was a woman of great faith, a wonderful mother, sister, and grandmother who will leave a void in many hearts.

Mrs. Heberling is survived by her two sons; Joseph L. Heberling of Alpena, MI and Paul Alan Heberling and his wife Wendy of Punxsutawney; her daughter Lisa Clayton and Bryan Chase of Meadville; her two brothers, Donald Chambers and his wife Shirley of Punxsutawney and Robert Chambers and his wife Clara of Smicksburg; her sisters, Thelma Hyskell of Smicksburg and Bonnie Jean Fisher and her husband Edward of Charlestown, WV; and a sister-in-law, Janice Chambers of Mt. Gillead, OH. In addition to numerous nieces and nephews, Betty is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great-grand children; Joseph L. Heberling, Jr., Jack, Kyle, Eric, and Staci Heberling; and, Elizabeth, Emilee, and Erica Clayton. Her great grandchildren are, Peter and Ellie Ann Heberling.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph and her brother, Norman Chambers.

Friends and Family will be received at the Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., in Punxsutawney on Sunday, February 26, 2017 from 2 – 6 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 27, 2017 at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Ritchey officiating.

Betty will be interred at Round Top Cemetery.
