Betty (McFadden) Betta

Betty (McFadden) Betta, 97, of Weedville, PA, died on Friday, October 6, 2017, at Christ the King Manor of DuBois, PA. A daughter of the late Aden W. and Anna (Tooke) McFadden, she was born on August 9, 1920, in Mahaffey, PA. In 1957, Betty married Joseph Betta who predeceased her in 1976.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, DeLee, Keith and Ward McFadden.

Betty is survived by her son, Stephen (Kathryn) Betta of Bristol, CT; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Being born and raised in Mahaffey, Betty graduated from Mahaffey High School in 1939 and went on to study at the University of Buffalo in a work-study program and later attended the DuBois Business College. She was a member and volunteer in many groups: The United Methodist Church of Weedville; DRMC volunteer for over fifty years and the first volunteer to reach 5000 hours; DRMC Auxiliary Board member; American Legion Auxiliary; American Cancer Society board member and volunteer; St. Joseph Terrace board member; Make-A-Wish volunteer; Elk County Welfare chairman by appointment of the Governor; DAR chaplain; Jay Township Election Board; DuBois Area Concert Association; BPW, Business Professional Women’s Organization; Red Cross & Day Chair for Bennetts Valley Blood Drive; Camp Confidence Volunteer; Bennetts Valley Ambulance board member for many years; ECCOTA – Elk County Council of the Arts board member.

Betty has been a resident of Bennetts Valley since 1957.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 6 – 8 p.m. with a DAR service at 7:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 10 – 11 a.m. with funeral services to follow at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home, Penfield, PA with Pastor Missy Smith, Luther Nelson, Jr., and Eugene Winchester.

Burial will take place in the Morningside Cemetery, DuBois, PA
