Betty O’Dene Truitt

Betty O’Dene Truitt, age 78, of Fairmount city, passed away Friday afternoon, July 7, 2017, at the Clarion Health Center, following a lengthy illness.

Born July 18, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Wilmer and Annie Nolf Crissman and was a 1957 graduate of the Redbank Valley High School.

She married Ira E. Truitt on July 19, 1957 at the parsonage of Reverend Miller in Alcola. He survives.

Betty worked at G.C. Murphy Company, Rollo Manufacturing in Hawthorn and drove school bus for 27 years. She farmed alongside her husband on the family farm.

She was a Jehovah Witness.

Survivors include her husband, Ira; one brother, Gene Crissman of North Carolina and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by a son, Troy Edward Truitt in 1977; three brothers, Paul, Jim, and Daryl and two sisters, Pauline Schreckengost and Loretta Reichard.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 10, 2017 at the Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service chapel, 233 Penn Street, New Bethlehem.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2017 in the funeral home chapel with Charles Scott speaking.

Interment will follow in the North Freedom Cemetery, Jefferson County.
