Bicyclist Seriously Injured After Colliding with Semi Along Route 219

BURNSIDE TOWNSHIP, Clearfield Co. (EYT) — A Northern Cambria man was severely injured in an accident Tuesday afternoon on Route 219 in Burnside Township, Clearfield County.

According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, Terry Mason, 24, was riding his bicycle north in the southbound lane while Troy Rothrock, 44, of Lewistown, was driving a 2017 Kenworth T800 truck north in the northbound lane.

For unknown reasons, Mason swerved into the northbound lane and collided with Rothrock’s vehicle, coming into contact with its drive wheels.

Mason was thrown from his bicycle, suffering severe injuries. He was flown by helicopter to Altoona Medical Center.

Rothrock was uninjured and his vehicle did not have any damage.

The Mahaffey Fire Department provided traffic control while the road was closed for an hour.
