Big Run House Destroyed by Fire; Damages Estimated at $200k

fire_truck-e1348179123281BIG RUN, Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police say around 3:00 a.m. on September 30, a fire of undetermined origin occurred at 317 East Main Street, in Big Run Borough, Jefferson County.

Police are investigating the cause and origin of a fire that occurred at the above described location.

Police say the fire completely destroyed the structure and contents of a residence owned by 40-year-old Donnie M. Schaffer.

Damage is estimated at approximately $200,000.00.

Because of the severity of the structural collapse, a more thorough examination of the scene will be completed at a later date to attempt to determine a cause of the fire, according to police.

The investigation is continuing.
