Blaine R. Dorsey

Blaine R. Dorsey, 84 of Punxsutawney, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015 at his home.

Mr. Dorsey was born August 18, 1930 in Washington County, a son of the late Carl H. and Irene (Sprowls) Dorsey.

He is survived by his wife Dolly E. (Tobias) Dorsey of Punxsutawney.

He was a US Army veteran serving in the Korean War. He attended the Valley Chapel Church. Mr. Dorsey served as a Medic in the Korean Conflict.

He was a member and past Commander and Quartermaster of the VFW Post # 2076 and American Legion Post # 62.

In addition to his wife Dolly, he is survived by a son; Jeffrey Dorsey and wife Vanessa of Punxsutawney, a daughter; Kandi Redd and husband Brandon of Indiana, foster son; David Lichvar, sisters; Hazel Hillberry of Claysville, Maxine Reynolds of Washington, grandchildren; Blaine R. Dorsey III, Katy Dorsey and Fiance Robert Edwards, Casey Dorsey, Brad Dorsey and Adele Haynes. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sons; Blaine R. Dorsey, Jr., Randall Lee Dorsey, brothers; Gaylord, Leo, Ralph, Floyd, Vance, Paul and Earl (Infant) and a sister; Lucille Bedilion.

Friends will be received from 2- ­4 and 6­ – 8 p.m. Sunday at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney where services will be held by the American Legion Post #62 and VFW Post #2076.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Valley Chaple Church with Rev. Janet Chiplis and Rev. Don Brauer officiating.

Interment will follow at Lakelawn Memorial Park where a veterans service will be conducted by the Jefferson County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.

Donations may be made in Mr. Dorsey’s name to the Valley Chapel Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.
