Blair D. Gearhart

Blair D. Gearhart, 85, of Mahaffey, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, November 7, 2014, from Hillsdale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hillsdale, Pa.

Blair was born on March 8, 1929, in Bell Township, Clearfield County, Pa.

He was the son of Albert Blair and Clara “Peggy” V. (Weaver) Gearhart.

Blair was a graduate of the Mahaffey High School.

He was a member of the former Susquehanna United Methodist Church and a current member of the Burnside United Methodist Church. Blair was active for many years as a Lay Speaker in the church, as well as being involved with the Lay Witness weekends at the church.

For almost forty years, Blair worked as a self-employed contractor, before retiring on March 9, 2005.

Over forty years ago, Blair helped organize the Mahaffey Scout Troop and became their first Scout Master. He was a member of the former Bell Twp. Grange.

One of his favorite pastimes was building radio-controlled airplanes. He loved to spend hours building these aircrafts. He belonged to the “Frequent-C-Fliers,” a club based in Glen Richey, Pa. that was dedicated to the pursuit of radio-controlled airplanes and their enthusiasts.

Blair married his wife, Mary G. (Solley) Gearhart, on December 24, 1948.

Blair was fond of saying that he was thankful to be married to the most beautiful, wonderful wife in the world, and, in his prayers, Blair would continually thank God for sending his son, Jesus, to die on the cross, so that he could have eternal life.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary, of Mahaffey, Pa.; his four children, John Gearhart and wife Isabel of Mahaffey, Pa., Alice Ann Baker and husband Jeff of Philipsburg, Pa., Rev.
