Blair Thomas “Tom” Christian

christianBlair Thomas “Tom” Christian, age 85, of Falls Creek, Pa., died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016, at Christ The King Manor after a short illness.

He was born Sept. 12, 1931, in Gelnett, Pa., the son of Ned and Orpha (Wolf) Christian who preceded him in death. He married Margaret “June” (Thomas) Christian on June 5, 1951. She survives.

Also surviving are three children, Mrs. Doug (S. Elaine) Pearce of Reynoldsville, Rose Blake of Falls Creek, Blair “Daniel” Christian and his wife Janet of DuBois; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Blanche Fye of DuBois.

Preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Earl Tillitson, Ray Tillitson and Archie Christian; and two sisters, Beulah Sterling and Arlene Bloom.

Tom was a graduate of DuBois High School and then attended Williamsport Technical School for heavy equipment mechanic.

He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in United States Navy, including the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Franklin D. Roosevelt.

He retired as a heavy equipment mechanic.

He lived most of his life in Falls Creek and was a very active member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Falls Creek. His hobbies included tearing down and rebuilding old equipment, hunting, fishing, gardening, and he was an avid Steelers fan.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home in DuBois with Pastor Robert Henry officiating. Interment will follow at Lakelawn Memorial Park in Reynoldsville. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home in DuBois. Military honors will be accorded by the DuBois Area Honor Guard.
