UPDATE: Brookville Man Allegedly Kidnaps Woman at Gunpoint

whitenightBROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – Around 7:00 p.m. on December 16, Brookville Police were notified by Punxsutawney State Police that a female reported she had been abducted at gunpoint.

Police were called to the Hill Top One Stop Store in Brooville where the kidnapped woman hid in the bathroom.

Sources say the woman jumped out of her own car that was allegedly hijacked by her ex-boyfriend 39-year-old Shawn L. Whitenight, of Brookville.

Whitenight had already fled the scene.

Police say around 10:00 p.m. State Police from DuBois, Punxsutawney, and Ridgway; Brookville Borough Police; and other officials surrounded Whitenight’s residence in Brookville.

Negotiations with Whitenight resulted in his surrendering without incident.

The woman’s name has not been released.

He is being charged with the following offenses:

-Kidnap To Inflict Injury/Terror, Felony 1
-Unlawful Restraint/ Serious Bodily Injury, Misdemeanor 1
-False Imprisonment
-Aggravated Assault, Felony 2
-Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
-Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Misdemeanor 2
-Terroristic Threats W/ Intent To Terrorize Another, Felony 3
-Stalking – Repeatedly Commit Acts To Cause Fear, Misdemeanor 1
-Disorderly Conduct Obscene Language/Gestures, Misdemeanor 3
-Harassment – Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary
-Unauthorized Use Motor/Other Vehicles, Misdemeanor 2

Unable to post $150,000.00 bail, he is being held at the Jefferson County jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on January 2 in front of District Judge Gregory M. Bazylak.
