EASTABOGA, Alabama (EYT) – Kronospan, Inc., an international company that manufactures and distributes wood-based panels, announced Thursday that it has acquired Shippenville-based Clarion Boards, Inc. and Clarion Laminates LLC.
Kronospan, Inc., the number one producer of wood-based panels worldwide, considers the acquisition a strategic first step into the North American laminate flooring market.
“Clarion Boards and Clarion Laminates are significant manufacturers of MDF/HDF and laminate flooring in North America,” said the Kronospan company in a press release. “Clarion’s range of products will complement products produced by Kronspan’s European facilities.”
The acquired companies will continue to be managed by current Clarion Boards and Clarion Laminates’ management.
Specific details of the acquisition were not released.
Kronospan was established in 1897 in Lungötz, Austria, as a family business. The company manufactures its products at more than 40 sites and employs over 14,000 people world-wide.
