UPDATE: Dozens of Cows Loose on I-80 Following Crash; Roadway Reopened

CLARION COUNTY, Pa. (EYT) – As of 12:40 a.m. today, both westbound and eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 near Emlenton re-opened. On Thursday evening, authorities closed a portion of the interstate roadway following a tractor trailer crash.

Around 6:27 p.m. on December 3, an accident involving a cattle hauler forced authorities to close Interstate 80 between mile marker 42 and mile marker 45.

Police say the eastbound lanes opened around 9:15 p.m.; however, the westbound lanes remained closed until 12:40 a.m. on December 4.

Police say traffic flow is being restored, as delays were reported throughout the Emlenton area as a result of the accident.

A representative with Clarion-based State Police told exploreClarion.com,”There (were) approximately 40 cows loose and moving across the highway causing a traffic hazard.”

Specific details on the accident have not yet been released.
