Emergency Crews Respond to Cook Forest after Man Plummets 150 Feet

rescue 1COOKSBURG, Pa. (EYT) – A man was rescued yesterday around 2:47 p.m. at Cook Forest after falling approximately 150 feet.

Sources say the victim, a 46-year-old male, was hiking with two other individuals on the Seneca Trail in Cook Forest.

He fell around 150 feet off a steep bank that leads to the Clarion River.

Sigel VFD Station 19; Clarion VFD Station 520; Farmington VFD Station 540; and Washington VFD Station 670 assisted at the scene along with Clarion Hospital Stat Medivac and Jefferson County EMS.

The fire companies had to cut down trees in order to get to the victim. It took the rescue crew around two hours to get to the victim.

They used rope rescue to lower the victim to the river and used Clarion’s rescue boat to transport the patient to the other side of the river.

Don Sherbine, of Farmington Volunteer Fire Department, told exploreClarion.com, “The four fire department companies worked well together to get to the victim as quickly as possible. We are all volunteers, and the support and communication between the members was amazing.”

The male victim was in stable condition at the time of the rescue; however, hypothermia was a concern. He was transported to an unidentified hospital.
