UPDATE: Blaze Causes $150,000 Damage at Leeper Home

12465913_725666027563615_7929894682162701354_oFARMINGTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – Five local fire companies responded to the scene of a house fire Friday afternoon in Farmington Township, Clarion County.

Clarion County 911 says Farmington Township Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched at 1:39 p.m. for a structure fire at 6993 Route 36.

According to the Marienville-based State Police, the fire originated in the basement stairwell of the two-story residence.

The exact cause is still under investigation.

Damage is estimated at $150,000.

Police say the homeowner was present at the time, but was not injured.

The following agencies assisted at the scene:

  • Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department
  • Marienville Volunteer Fire Department
  • Shippenville – Elk Township Volunteer Fire Department
  • Clarion Fire & Hose Company
  • Shippenville EMS

Pinegrove Township Volunteer Fire Department was on standby.

Route 36 between Tylersburg Road and Route 66 was closed for approximately 3 hours while crews battled the fire.
