Interstate 80 Reopens After Crash Near Brookville

BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – Interstate 80 eastbound near Brookville has reopened following a two-vehicle crash.

According to a representative of Jefferson County Emergency Services, they received a call around 3:17 p.m. reporting a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 eastbound just east of Exit 78 near the Jenks Street overpass.

Brookville Volunteer Fire Company, Pine Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Jefferson County EMS, Brookville Borough Police Department, and DuBois-based State Police were dispatched to the scene.

Specific details on the crash are not being released at this time.

Interstate 80 eastbound was closed at Exit 78 following the accident.

Eastbound traffic was rerouted off of Exit 78, through Brookville onto U.S. 322 to DuBois before being allowed to reenter the interstate.

Residual effects of the closure were being reported on U.S. 322 around 5:15 p.m.; however, traffic levels are expected to return to normal soon.

Police are expected to release additional information within the next 48 hours.
