UPDATE: Interstate 80 Shut Down Following Multiple Vehicle Rollover Crash

MONROE TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A portion of Interstate 80 eastbound has been closed by authorities following a multiple vehicle rollover accident with injuries.

Officials say the crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. at mile marker 61.8 in the eastbound lane, near the Exit 62 (Clarion) off-ramp.

An eyewitness told exploreClarion.com that two passenger cars and two tractor trailers were involved in the accident.

Sources say at least two people suffered injuries. There is no word on the extent of their injuries.

Scanner reports indicate a fuel spill occurred as a result of the collision.

Interstate 80 eastbound is closed in the area of the accident. Traffic is being diverted off exit 60 (Shippenville) and through Clarion via Route 66 and Route 322.

Officials advise motorists to expect traffic delays on Route 66 and Route 322.

Interstate 80 is expected to re-open around 7:30 p.m.

Clarion-based State Police, Clarion Fire & Hose Co. No. 1, Clarion Hospital EMS, Shippenville Ambulance, DCNR, PennDOT, and Bauer Truck Repair are on the scene.

Specific details on the crash have not yet been released by police.
