UPDATE: Pilot Flown to Hospital Following Plane Crash at Clarion County Airport

SHIPPENVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – A single-engine plane crashed this afternoon while attempting to take off from a runway at the Clarion County Airport.

According to Clarion County OES, Shippenville-Elk Volunteer Fire Department and Shippenville Ambulance were dispatched around 2:02 p.m. for a report of a single-engine plane crash at the Clarion County Airport, located at 395 Airport Road.

According to an eyewitness, a Light Sport Aircraft made a left turn while taking off, causing it to hit the ground.

The pilot was transported by STAT MedEvac to an unknown hospital for treatment of injuries.

The extent of the pilot’s injuries in not known at this time.

According to Shippenville-Elk Fire Department, there was no fire associated with the crash.

Clarion County Airport Officials have reported the incident to the Federal Aviation Administration. An investigation is underway.

Officials have not yet released the name of the pilot.
