HARRISBURG, Pa. (EYT) – Republican Incumbent Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson will serve a fourth term as the U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania’s 5th congressional district, beating out Democratic challenger Kerith Strano Taylor.
Thompson won by a 64% to 36% margin, according to unofficial results.
A life-long resident of Howard Township, Centre County, Pa., Thompson was first elected to represent Pennsylvania’s Fifth District in the U.S. House of Representatives on November 4, 2008, and sworn in to his third term on January 3, 2013.
In the 2012, Thompson beat out Democrat Charles Dumas.
Prior to being elected to Pennsylvania’s geographically largest congressional district, Congressman Thompson spent 28 years as a therapist, rehabilitation services manager, and a licensed nursing home administrator.
Strano Taylor, a resident of Brookville, beat Thomas Edward Tarantella in the May Primary to win the Democratic nomination.
Pennsylvania’s 5th Congressional District covers Cameron, Centre, Clarion, Clearfield, Clinton, Erie, Forest, Huntingdon, Jefferson, McKean, Potter, Venango, and Warren counties.
