Bridge Builders to Reveal New Look for ‘Week of Giving’ Online Fundraiser

OIL CITY, Pa. – Building on the success of its inaugural Week of Giving this year, Bridge Builders Community Foundations will reveal a new look in March 2018 to increase the excitement for its weeklong online fundraiser.

The community foundation partnered with Contributary, an online Giving Day platform headquartered in State College, Pa., to help host the next Week of Giving slated for the week of March 19th through the 23rd of 2018.

“The initial Week of Giving in 2017 was a success and we look to build on this next year. Inspiring and cultivating giving in our area is a key component of the Community Foundation,” said Trenton Moulin, executive director of Bridge Builders Community Foundations.

“The Week of Giving is an exciting, secure way to give and impact our community. This partnership with Contributary will offer a safe, secure and scalable process to connect with donors before and during the Week of Giving this coming March.”

The inaugural Week of Giving in March 2017 raised $105,000.00 for 88 nonprofits and BBCF Funds serving Clarion, Forest, Venango, and Jefferson counties.

Nearly 200 community foundations around the country host similar events and raise hundreds of millions of dollars for local nonprofits each year. Contributary began offering its product to community foundations after helping raise $1.4 million for 147 nonprofits in 36 hours last May with Centre Gives in State College.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Bridge Builders Community Foundations and its Week of Giving,” Scott Woods, president of Contributary, said. “Giving Days have tremendous power to rally a community. People want to support their favorite local nonprofit causes, and they’re proud of where they live. As such, our Giving Day platform is strong, secure and designed to engage and inspire people.”

By partnering with Contributary, BBCF was able to find a local vendor to offer a secure, custom product that will increase the interest and level of philanthropy within the community.

“We will be announcing many exciting changes in the near future. The Staff, Trustees and Affiliate Directors of the Community Foundation look forward to this new partnership and what it means for nonprofits in our footprint.” Moulin said.

Nonprofits interested in participating in next year’s Week of Giving are asked to visit www.bbcfgives.org and sign up for updates or connect with Lauren M. Lupinacci, BBCF program manager, at 814-677-8687 or bbcfgives@bbcf.org.

Registration will begin in January, and a marketing boot camp will be held in early February.

ABOUT BRIDGE BUILDERS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

The Venango Area Community Foundation was founded on April 30, 1975. The first discretionary fund was created within the Venango Area Community Foundation portfolio in June 1976 by Galena Rew Harrington and Mary E. Rew, both of Franklin, who were two local community volunteers who wanted to make a difference. They started that initial endowment with a gift and trust transfer totaling almost $80,000.00.

Today that endowment still exists as the oldest continued endowment in Bridge Builders Community Foundations’ portfolio, and distributes approximately $5,000.00 annually to local causes every year.

The Venango Area Community Foundation changed its name to Bridge Builders Community Foundations in 2006 and created affiliates to serve the Venango, Clarion, Forest and most recently Punxsutawney area to leverage assets, fund management, and giving.

It took a long time to evolve as a community foundation, and to become the umbrella foundation serving our four area affiliates.

Through economic hardships, staff changes, and social impact over the years we have been able to uphold our values and stay true to what we were founded on 40 years ago – the hope of a better, stronger community.
